A Saluda man faces a drug charge following a traffic stop Monday night in Greenwood during which officers found marijuana and a large amount of cash.
Casius Woolridge, 33, of 105 Slenda Court, Saluda, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana in connection with the incident.
Police clocked the suspect speeding through the intersection of Sweetwater Road at U.S. Bypass 25 and initiated a traffic stop on his pickup truck.
According to a Greenwood police report:
The officer noted an odor of marijuana emanating from the suspect and his vehicle. The man initially told officers he did not have any marijuana, but later admitted to having about five grams in the truck and a small amount in his pants pocket. He said there was more than $5,000 in the pickup as well.
Police searched the vehicle and found about eight grams of a substance suspected to be marijuana scattered through various portions of the truck. Officers also found a digital scale, three cellphones, small plastic baggies commonly used in the distribution of drugs and $5,690 in cash.
The suspect told officers the money was from a car sale he'd recently made, but was unable to produce a bill of sale or documentation verifying he sold a vehicle. Police seized the money.
