Each summer, many people from Greenwood take a short trip to Greenville to see a Greenville Drive minor league baseball game.
Those from Greenwood who make that trip this Sunday will likely feel right at home.
Sunday will be Greenwood Day at Fluor Field at the West End, as the Greenville Drive take on the Hagerstown (Md.) Suns. First pitch is at 4:05 p.m.
The Greenville Drive are an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Meanwhile, Hagerstown is an affiliate of the Washington Nationals. The teams play in the Class A South Atlantic League.
As the Drive is an affiliate of the Red Sox, picturesque Fluor Field is, in many ways, a replica of Fenway Park. It even has a "Green Monster" wall in left field.
City of Greenwood manager Charlie Barrineau said Greenwood Day at the Drive game will be an opportunity for Greenwood residents to gather with each other and enjoy an afternoon of baseball.
