Three Greenwood men face larceny charges following reports of copper theft in a west Greenwood industrial sector.
Clifford Wright, 23, of 112 Tanyard St., Gerald Hutchinson III, 18, of 713 Holloway Ave., and Patrick Elder, 20, of 202 Bond Ave., each were charged with injury to real property to obtain nonferrous metals (damage of $5,000 or more), second-degree burglary and petit larceny in connection with the incident.
The alleged copper theft took place between March 21 and March 31 at a warehouse in the 200 block of Joe Bernat Drive.
According to a Greenwood police report, officers responded to the warehouse to talk to the property manager on March 31. The victim said a landscaper spotted large holes cut into both warehouses, and officers determined the buildings had been broken into.
The victim told officers more than $10,000 worth of copper had been cut and stolen from the site, and officers observed several pipe covers cut and left in the middle of the warehouse floor. Investigators also spotted four separate sets of shoe prints at the scene coming from the pipe holes and leading to different places.
