Parents who claimed their child was a victim of bullying filed a civil lawsuit against Greenwood School District 50 on Jan. 21.
The plaintiffs claim D50 administrators failed to adequately separate their daughter from an aggressive student while their daughter attended Springfield Elementary School.
According to case files, the victim was struck in the face and consistently showered with derogatory comments by the aggressor from 2010-12.
The lawsuit alleged school principal Allyson Perrin was made aware of the aggressor's actions by the plaintiffs, but nonetheless placed the victim and aggressor in teacher Jodi Moss' class in the 2012-13 school year.
According to case files, the plaintiffs allege: "upon learning of this placement, the Plaintiffs requested Perrin move (the victim) into another class but Perrin denied their request."
