A news release from the National Park Service detailed a shakeup of the Ninety Six National Historic Site and three other national parks with Revolutionary War ties.
Cowpens National Battlefield, Kings Mountain National Military Park and Overmountain Victory Trail will combine staff services and other operational duties on or about Sept. 1.

“This action will ensure financial sustainability, provide more efficient use of resources, and help these parks to better serve the visiting public,” Southeast Regional Director Stan Austin said in the release. “The units share historic backgrounds, missions and geographic proximity, and this provides an opportunity to share employees who perform identical or similar functions at each of the parks.”
