Democrat George Reid's tenure with the McCormick County Sheriff's Office will continue following Tuesday's elections.
Reid, 59, defeated write-in candidate Tim Kelly, 43, in the race for McCormick County Sheriff. Reid, who has been with the sheriff's department for 30 years, has been sheriff since 1986.
Unofficial results has Reid winning with 3,606 votes (91.38 percent). Write-ins totals were 340 (8.62 percent).
Kelly submitted his letter to enter in the race in March. The Army soldier, who was in Afghanistan serving as a military police officer, was overseas for the filing period and primaries. He returned to the states in September and became a write-in candidate.
Reid campaigned to continue the fight against drugs and metal theft and to increase the auxiliary officer brigade.
