As Christmas draws closer, several Lakelands communities will have their Christmas parades and other events this weekend.
Kicking things off will be the Due West Christmas Parade followed by the town's tree lighting.
"We'll start at 5:15 p.m. Friday," Due West Mayor Lee Logan said. "It starts at the end of Main Street, near the Due West Baptist Church, to the other end of Main Street to the Due West ARP Church."
Logan said while the parade is free to enter, there will be cash rewards for first, second and third place.

"I believe it's $100 for first place, $50 for second and $30 for third," Logan said.
Those wishing to enter in the parade should contact Kathy Busby at 864-379-8546.
The parade will also feature canned food collections for the United Christian Ministries of Abbeville County at the parade's start location and in front of the Due West Town Hall.
The tree lighting will follow near the corner of Main and College streets immediately after the parade.
