MEDINA, Ohio - John J. Klotz, Jr., age 88, passed away December 5, 2013 in Medina. He was born on July 2, 1925 in Barton, Ohio, to the late John J. and Margaret (Pipa) Klotz. John retired as a plant manager at Grede/Westinghouse Foundry in Greenwood, SC. He served his country in the US Army during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. John was a member of the American Legion Post 309 in Maple Heights and Parkland Golf Course in South Carolina, where he achieved two holes-in-one.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Julia L. (Smelko) Klotz; dear children, Jean (Richard) Epley, Jim (Mary) Klotz and Janet (Scott) Carter; his loving grandchildren, Lee and Tracy Epley and Chrystal and Tammy Klotz; and his sister Marge Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, Walter and Edward Klotz and his sister Rose Smolenak.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, 44256. A graveside service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, OH 44270. Please meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Monday.
