A Hodges man was arrested Monday night following a report of a sexual assault filed last month in Ware Shoals.
Robert Vinson, 35, of 2915 Ridge Road, Hodges, was charged with first-degree assault and battery in connection with the incident.
The victim, a Ware Shoals woman, met an officer at the town's police department Sept. 2 and told police the suspect sexually assaulted her Aug. 10.
According to a Ware Shoals incident report, the woman, who was in hysterics as she talked with officers, said she was currently seeing a sexual trauma therapist as a result of the incident, during which she said the suspect attempted to assault her at her house.
The woman spoke with a National Guardsman later in the day, who took pictures of her wrist, which were swollen during the attack. The victim told officers her sexual therapist advised her not to alert police of the incident until she was over the initial shock of it. She indicated there was no sex involved in the assault, but told officers she had text messages from the suspect in which he admitted what he'd done was wrong.
