One man was arrested Sunday following reports of a domestic dispute involving death threats.
Ricky Givens, of 106 Tanyard Ave., Greenwood, was charged with criminal domestic violence high and aggravated in nature, pointing and presenting a firearm and third-degree assault and battery in connection with the incident.
The arrest stemmed from a fight, which began late Saturday night and spilled into Sunday morning, at a Ninety Six residence along Old S.C. Highway 246 South. According to a Greenwood County incident report:
The victim told officers she and her son were home Saturday about 10 p.m. when the suspect came home drunk and began yelling and cursing at them. At one point during that night's episode, the man grabbed the victim's 16-year-old son and acted as if he were going to hit him after the boy tried to calm the suspect down.
The following morning, the victim was awakened by more of the suspect's rants, and this time the man was threatening to kill her. When the victim said she and her son were leaving the residence, the suspect pulled out a small black handgun, loaded it with a clip and pointed it at the woman. She told officers he threatened to kill her and her son if they tried to leave, and added he would kill the police if they came to the house. The victim was eventually able to depart from the house with the help of a family member, and police subsequently arrested the suspect at the Ninety Six residence.
