One man was arrested after being implicated in multiple instances of illegal drug activity earlier this year.
Johnny Turnage, 44, of 307 E. Lowell Ave., Greenwood, was charged with distribution of methamphetamine and obtaining a drug by fraud, deceit or the like in connection with the incidents.
According to one Greenwood County incident report, the suspect attempted to purchase a box of 12-hour decongestant medicine twice at Greenwood's Walmart in June. He was blocked from making the purchases because he exhausted his federal 30-day allotment of the medicine, which contains the pseudoephedrine ingredient needed to cook meth.
Another county incident report indicated the suspect was the target of a sting operation Aug. 26. Agents sent an undercover informant to purchase a small amount of meth from the man that day at a residence along East Laurel Avenue. Agents from the county's Drug Enforcement Unit monitored the drug transaction and tested the substance the suspect sold the undercover informant. The substance tested positive for meth, the report indicated.
