A Gray Court man faces charges following reports he embezzled more than $150,000 from a Laurens County business.
Earl Alexander Jr., 50, of 647 Ballenger Road, was charged with two counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent in connection with the incident.
A caster distribution company in Fountain Inn contacted the Laurens County Sheriff's Office in November about a former employee.
According to an incident report, the company's owner told officers the suspect had been employed at the business for more than 26 years and was fired Nov. 8. The woman said Alexander was a manager for the business and had been siphoning money from the company through various means, including credit cards, during the course of his employment there.
Arrest warrants indicate the theft took place between January 2008 and Nov. 12. During that timeframe, the suspect used a company credit card to purchase more than $53,000 worth of items for personal use and gave himself a pay boost of more than $105,000 without proper authorization. Officials indicated the investigation remains ongoing.
