Authorities in Abbeville County arrested a Donalds man during the weekend following allegations of child pornography.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest through a press release Friday. John Andrew Frankum, 23, was charged with third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with the incident, the release stated.

The operation was part of a task force designed to deter Internet crimes against children. The S.C. Law Enforcement Division collaborated with the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office in making the arrest. Investigators from Berkeley County got a tip that sexual images involving children were disseminated from a Donalds account.

According to the release, SLED agents and Abbeville County deputies searched two homes, including the suspect’s, on Aug. 26. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony count.

Frankum was detained at the Abbeville County Detention Center, and bond was set at $10,000. The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
