Greenwood's District 50 announced the retirement of Pearly Milton on Wednesday. Milton is a 31-year veteran of the district as a teacher, instructional specialist and administrator. She has been the district's director of elementary education since 2007.
"Pearly was a remarkable educator during her career at District 50, " Pat Ross, assistant superintendent for instruction, said in a press release.
"Parents, teachers and administrators have admired her strong commitment to the children in our community," Ross continued. "She has been a friend to all who have worked with her and will be missed."
Superintendent Darrell Johnson expressed his admiration for Milton's long career in the district.

"We are very appreciative of the contributions she has made in our district and our community," Johnson said, also through the prepared news release.
"She is not only a caring person, but a professional educator in every sense of the word," Johnson said.
Milton's retirement is effective immediately, with administrator Rex Coates, former director of the district's Early Childhood Center taking on her position for the remainder of the school year.
