More effective than a siren and just as easy to use, CodeRED is becoming a popular way to notify residents of emergency.
Greenwood County has contracted with CodeRED, and is currently offering the service to all residents located in the county.
CodeRED, an Ormond Beach, Fla.-based emergency communications network, offers alert services via mobile (text messaging and calling), landline phone, email and social media. The service has been a useful component when alerting communities about locating missing children, apprehending wanted criminals and issuing timely evacuations.
