Lake Greenwood is perhaps the single most important natural resource in Greenwood County.
On Saturday, area residents will have the opportunity to help make sure that resource is clean and ready for spring.
The sixth annual Lake Greenwood Cleanup Blitz will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. As it has for the last several years, the Lake Greenwood Cleanup Blitz will serve as the statewide kickoff event for the Great American Cleanup South Carolina.
A host of agencies — including Keep Greenwood County Beautiful, Healthy Greenwood Neighborhoods, Greenwood County Lake Management,
Preserving Lake Greenwood and others — are collaborating to put on the annual event.
Those wishing to volunteer for Saturday’s cleanup will have the choice of several different locations which will serve as starting points, including State Park Shelter No. 2, Buzzard Roost Boat Ramp, Fellowship Camp and Conference Center, Lake Management Spray Shed, River Fork Boat Ramp and Moon Landing.
