Yet another pair of Greenwood parents was arrested Friday after their respective children tested positive for meth.
Robert Sutherland, 30, and Susan Turner, 34, both of 520 E. Laurel Ave., were charged with unlawful neglect of a child in connection with the incident.
Caseworkers from Greenwood County's Department of Social Services office received complaints in late August about the suspects using drugs in the presence of their two children - a 9-year-old girl and an 11-month-old girl - at their Kathwood home just off East Laurel Avenue. DSS officials alerted agents from the county Drug Enforcement Unit of their findings Wednesday. According to a Greenwood County incident report:
Sutherland is the 9-year-old's biological father and Turner is the birth mother to both children. According to a DSS intake report, the suspects admitted to using drugs. Upon receiving the complaint, DSS workers conducted an investigation, which encompassed drug testing of both suspects and the two children Aug. 28.
The hair screening revealed all four tested positive for meth. DSS officials indicated that Turner's mother moved into the home to care for the children.
