A Bradley man was arrested after being found with several items reported stolen from vehicles parked in Walmart's parking lot early Monday morning.
Stevie Williams, 44, of 1211 County Line Road, was charged with malicious damage to personal property, petit larceny and two counts of breaking into motor vehicle in connection with the incident.
Deputies were called to the shopping center, 508 Bypass 72 NW, at about 1:15 a.m. Monday in reference to reports of a suspicious man. Walmart managers told deputies the man was walking from car to car in the parking lot.
According to a Greenwood incident report, officers identified the suspicious male as the suspect and found two car radios and two cellphones in his possession. He told deputies the items were his.
Ten minutes later, a Walmart employee who parked his car in the lot, told officers his car radio was missing and identified one of the radios found in the suspect's possession as his. Moments later, another employee told officers the steering column of his car was tampered with and the vehicle would no longer start. The victim said his glove compartment was also open and two cellphones were missing. Officers found a steak knife with a broken tip in that victim's vehicle.
Another employee came forth just after 1:30 a.m. and informed officers his car radio was stolen and ID'd the other radio found in the suspect's possession as his.
