Bi-Lo employee arrested, charged with stealing from store

A former store clerk was arrested Friday after admitting to stealing money from a Greenwood grocery store.
Martakius Dennis, 22, of Greer, was charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent in connection with the incident.
A store manager at Bi-Lo, 2010 Montague Ave. Extension, contacted Greenwood County deputies Friday afternoon. According to a Greenwood County incident report, the manager told officers he believed one of the employees had been stealing money and noted there had been a shortage of money at the end of each day for the past three months. Store security launched an internal investigation, which led to the suspect as the employee whose daily tally continued to come up short. Security reviewed video surveillance from May 28 that showed the man steal money from his register.
Deputies questioned the suspect at the store Friday and he admitted to stealing money on three different occasions, the report stated. Investigators learned that he stole $30 on April 3, $200 on April 17, and $300 on May 28.
