An Abbeville man was arrested following reports of an argument early Sunday morning.
John McCall, 65, of 187 Stevenson Road, was charged with breach of peace, aggravated in nature, in connection with the incident.
According to a Greenwood County incident report, the civil dispute took place just after 5:30 a.m. in a Family Dollar parking lot, 2042 Montague Ave. Extension. Greenwood County deputies responded to the scene following reports the suspect had a gun and was making death threats. The victim told officers he is a newspaper delivery man and pulled up near the front of the store to wait on his papers to arrive. He said the suspect was already there in his vehicle. The victim said when the paper truck arrived, he drove his vehicle up and the suspect cut him off at the back of the truck, then started yelling and cursing at him. He said the man then went into his glove compartment, pulled out a black pistol, and continued yelling at him, threatening to kill him.
Officers found a .380-caliber Kel-Tec pistol in the suspect’s possession, reports noted. The man did have a concealed weapons permit, licensing him to carry the gun. Two witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim’s statement to officers.
