Abbeville man faces burglary charge

An Abbeville man was arrested Thursday morning following reports of a break-in at a Centre Court residence.

Charles Earl Johnson Scroggs, 21, 1525 Old Douglas Mill Road, Abbeville, was charged with first-degree burglary and larceny in connection with the incident.
The victims reported the break-in occurred at their home along Centipede Court early Sunday morning. According to a Greenwood County incident report, the victims told deputies they installed cameras throughout their home prior to the theft because they were suspicious about a former tenant at the residence. Camera footage showed someone enter the house about 4:30 a.m. Sunday with a flashlight, walk through the kitchen and enter an office area. The footage showed the person re-emerge with something in his hands and walk out of the front door. The victims told officers the man fit the suspect's description.
The victims reported a Coach purse, $45 in cash and numerous credit and debit cards missing from their home.
