Two Greenwood County men were arrested during the weekend following a rash of auto break-ins last week.
Pierre Lipford, 21, of 4220 Main St., Hodges, and Tyrell Wideman, 17, of 518 E. Laurel Ave., Greenwood, were each charged with breaking into motor vehicle and petit larceny in connection with the incident.
Investigators found the Hodges man at the Greenwood suspect's residence Friday and questioned him about the thefts. According to a Greenwood County incident report, the Hodges man gave officers a stolen Remington 12-gauge shotgun and offered a full confession to breaking into multiple vehicles with the Greenwood teen during the week of Christmas.
The Hodges suspect told officers the pair took the shotgun and two .40-caliber Glock magazines from a residence along Crestview Drive, and pointed the home out to investigators. Officers spoke to the homeowner, who is an Abbeville County deputy. Reports indicated Lipford also pointed out several other homes in the Kathwood and Rock Knoll subdivisions he said the duo broke into on Christmas Eve, taking cash and other items from unlocked vehicles. The suspect indicated he acted as lookout for the Greenwood teen and stole items as well.c
