An Abbeville man was airlifted to Greenville following a crash along Highway 72 West late Tuesday afternoon.
The wreck took place about 5 p.m. near the Abbeville County line about 2 miles outside of Greenwood, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol officials.

SCHP identified the injured man as Derick Moss, 44, of Abbeville. Moss reportedly appeared to suffer severe leg injuries and was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital by helicopter. Paramedics could be seen at the scene feverishly working to bandage and extract the victim, who was laid out on a utility trailer attached to a pickup truck involved in the collision. SCHP officials were not immediately clear on Moss’ condition, but he was still conscious when emergency crews evacuated him from the scene.
