State Senator and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Vincent Sheheen spoke and shook hands with guests, and indulged in some barbecue tasting at the Festival of Discovery on Saturday afternoon.
“I love coming to Greenwood. It’s great  to come up here to the festival and just talk to people in the street and see what’s going on,” Sheheen said. “I think this is really the strength of South Carolina when you get outside of the major urban areas and you get to see what goes on in, what I call, the part of the state I come from.”

He said the event helped to showcase small businesses in Greenwood and across the state.
“It’s part of the reason I come to things like this because you have dozens of small businesses here in Greenwood and on the streets of Greenwood today who come in from other places who are really helping the local economy,” Sheheen said.
