Typically, the words “success” and “Abbeville High School sports” are synonymous. No matter the sport, the Panthers have a long, rich history of region championships and deep playoff runs.


This year was a down year for Abbeville, though. The football team scuffled to a 3-7 regular season and a 4-8 final record. The baseball and softball teams missed the playoffs, as did the girls basketball team.
But, three teams did carry on that Panther tradition of success: volleyball, boys basketball and girls tennis. And one athlete brought home a state championship.
