While many Greenwood County residents were turning the calendar Wednesday, one Abbeville couple was greeting a special New Year's Day bundle.
He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces, was 21 inches long and full of life.
Heather Porter and Ryan Baysden welcomed their first child into the world Wednesday afternoon at Self Regional Medical Center. Stanley Teagen Baysden was born about 1:10 p.m. and was Greenwood's first baby of 2014, according to the hospital.

"I thought the lady next door was going to beat us," said Porter, a 24-year-old Easley native. "It's pretty neat; I thought it was awesome. It's a fresh start. It brings a lot of joy and a lot of accomplishment."
Hours after the delivery, Porter sat in the hospital room with her newborn son cradled at her bosom. It was her third child, and she noted some uniqueness to her newest child.
"He was much different from my other kids, the whole pregnancy was," she said. "It was a lot smoother."
