Thousands turning out to Greenwood Mall on Saturday were treated to a parade of family fun and household commodities.
The Index-Journal Parents’ Expo rolled into the indoor shopping center for the third annual installment of the late summer bazaar for moms and dads.
More than 4,000 people descended upon the expo, which featured more than 40 area exhibitors showcasing an array of family goods ranging from auto parts to medical services.
“It’s the third year and we’re very excited to still be putting this event on,” said Mundy Price, the Index-Journal’s director of community relations. “The weather played in our favor this year, I think. With it being sort of a gloomy Saturday, parents were looking for something to do and this was the perfect place to come and have fun. Plus, it’s great that it’s back-to-school time, so we get the families before they send the kids back to school. And we’ll look forward to making it bigger and better for years to come.”

Organizers moved the expo, which was in late August and early September in past years, up earlier in the month this year to take place in conjunction with the annual Kidfest. The Belk-sponsored children’s bash was in its fourth year and featured a pair of Back to School fashion shows as well as a kids’ model search.
