Sarah Watson, the heralded writer and co-executive producer of the acclaimed NBC drama “Parenthood,” has never been to South Carolina.
That's about to change.
Watson is among the special guest speakers on tap for the April 12 Lander University Film Festival 5.0. Other Hollywood guests include screenwriter Craig Titley, who was a writer on “Scooby-Doo” and “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” and film executive Luke Ryan, who was an executive producer on “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle,” among other studio work.
Watson has worked on several TV projects through the years, including as a writer and producer on ABC Family's “The Middleman” and ABC's “The Unusuals.” However, she gained momentum with her work on “Parenthood,” the Thursday night NBC show that found a consistent audience. “Parenthood,” which currently is in its fifth season, stars Craig T. Nelson, Lauren Graham, Ray Romano, Dax Shepard, Monica Potter and several others.
In a recent phone interview, Watson, a native of northern California, talked a bit about how she became interested in screenwriting.
