GREENVILLE — Sometimes, the scene can tell as much about the game as the score.
After the McCormick High School girls basketball team lost 67-43 against St. Joseph’s in Tuesday night’s Class A Upper State semifinal, Chiefs coach Gena Wideman was noticeably stunned and tried to make sense of what happened.
“I haven’t had the chance to sit down and just process it,” said Wideman, who returned four players this season who were starters during last year’s run to a state runner-up finish. “I watched it, and I saw it. Now, I’ve just got to process it.”

In a rematch of last year’s Upper State semifinal which the Chiefs won 52-50, the Knights pulled away with clutch 3-pointers to lead 32-18 at halftime.
St. Joseph’s never looked back.
