Bearcat Baseball Camp

Type: Sports

The Lander Bearcat Baseball team was ranked as high as #1 in the country during the 2012-2013 season, and your camper can receive personalized instruction from those same NCAA Division II coaches and players! A low camper to coach ratio ensures that young players learn the basic fundamentals and overall strategies of the game of baseball. Age appropriate drills that have proven successful in college players are used throughout each session, as well as fun and creative games designed especially for campers aged 6-12.

Campers get to know Lander baseball coaches and players, and establish positive relationships that also help them enjoy watching the game throughout the season. Campers are encouraged to encompass character values consistent with that of a champion, that are taught throughout instruction and example.

Instructional time is complimented by fun activities such as swimming in the outdoor pool and an on campus dining experience. Campers are asked to bring comfortable clothes and shoes, a bathing suit, sunscreen, a baseball hat, a change of clothes, a towel and a glove each day.

“Shoot For The Stars” Basketball Camp

 The “Shoot For The Stars” Basketball Camp will hold two big sessions this summer - June 16-19 and August 4-7. Basketball camp is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15. Camp will be broken down into age and ability groups for instruction and competition. The Lander University basketball coaches and players will make up the coaching staff. Camp highlights include a free camp jersey, individual instruction, team competition, contests, and daily league games. Coach Jeff Burkhamer will be directing the daily acitivities and using his 30 years of coaching and camp experience to teach the kids each day.

Camp Power Puffers; A camp for children with asthma

Sponsor: Piedmont Technical College Respiratory Care Program
Camp Power puffers , is a day camp for children age 5 - 12. Children that attend Camp Power Puffers are educated through many different formats on how to control their asthma instead of letting their asthma control them. Our goals for this camp will include helping each camper recognize what triggers their asthma and therefore the best way to prevent an attack, how best to treat their asthma (within their doctor’s guidelines), and how to stay active and healthy year-round.Many activities are planned to assist the campers in becoming self-sufficient in their management of their asthma. Educational sessions include recognizing and avoiding triggers, how to use their inhalers and peak flowmeters, which of their medicines to use when (maintenance vs. rescue), and learning their “zones” (when to get help). The campers are also taught about safety, good nutrition, and staying active through many types of games and sports. Due to the support of Self Regional Healthcare Community Outreach Committee and local businesses, the camp is free of charge.

Jam Camp

Fretworks! Sixth Annual Summer Jam Camp is an eight week program designed to bring aspiring musicians together to experience the excitement of playing in a real music group. Each group will consist of 4-5 participants playing guitars, drums, piano, and singing. Participants will learn 3-4 songs with the assistance of music “coaches” provided by Fretworks! At the conclusion of camp in August, each group will perform on stage with professional sound and lighting at Sundance Gallery in Uptown Greenwood. A video of the performance will be included.
*Each participant will join one group, provide their own instrument and have a basic musical knowledge of it. All age groups welcome.

KIDDIES ON THE KEYS

MS. SUSAN’S SCHOOL OF MUSIC (where “Families Making Music, Families Having FUN!” is our motto and mission) introduces a FUN-FILLED Piano Camp for ages 6-12 years. We will meet for 3 hours daily for one week and learn to play Pop songs like Let It Go, Lean On Me, Let It Be and more, all from pattern-based play with no previous piano lessons required! We will also start sight-reading notes and rhythms, play theory games with a unique, new method in a FUN way using I-Pads, I-Pods and computers. In addition, we will learn to play other styles: rock, blues, classical, gospel, sacred, holiday songs as well as how to accompany ourselves or others singing or playing another instrument. An introduction to Famous Composers will be an added bonus and we will have a PPP (Piano Performance and Party-formerly known as a Recital) on Friday to share our music with our families!

The most unique aspect of Camp Discovery is the “Intergenerational Focus.” Lifetime Discoveries is the only intergenerational daycare in South Carolina. Greenwood’s Senior Center is housed in a separate wing of our facility. Kanuga Day Camp

For over 50 years the Greenwood Y has been making a positive difference in children through our day camps.
Camp Greenwood is an exciting day camp designed for children ages 5-12. Each day at camp brings exciting adventures including swimming, sports, archery, art and crafts, the 50 feet Alpine Tower and ground level team development course. Campers will go on field trips, overnight camp outs or special events each week.
Campers need to bring a lunch, two snacks, swimsuit and towel each day.
Our camps are staffed by counselors who are genuinely interested in working with children - certified in First Aid and CPR.
